How it all began

Style Wabi-Kusa appeared thanks to the Japanese art of ikebana. Since the middle of the 19th century there were only land plants and flowers used in the Wabi-Kusa stream, but gradually they began to be replaced by aqueous. Thus, the Japanese have noticed the beauty of the plants is in the water and began actively to distribute a new trend in the world of flora. Such the experiment has turned into something more massive. Today art of Wabi-Kusa registered in Japan as a trademark, the owner of which was the company ADA. In a relatively short time, this style has become very popular, so special Wabi-Kusa stores began to open in different forms.

What is Wabi-Kusa

The stream is the compositions in tanks with different herbaceous plants, which completely or partly submerged in the water. The unusual name of this style comes from two Japanese words "wabi" and "kusa", which translates as "simplicity" and "plant". The first word has nothing to do with the ease of creating such a composition. Meaning is just in ease and tranquility of Wabi-Kusa style. In this direction, it combines elements of the aquarium and bonsai that makes it so unique and popular nowadays.

How to make a composition in the style of wabi-cous with their hands

To create the Wabi-Kusa it is not necessary to use the aquarium, which is only for fishes. The plants will look very well in low vases and bowls made of glass. The main features of Wabi-Kusa are special moss hummocks, to which aquatic plants grow, forming an unusual composition. The substrate for these earthen balls is easy enough to create by yourself. It is enough to mix clay with shallow haydite and a small amount of charcoal. Thus, you should get a mixture of dense and elastic. Then you should blind small balls of the ground and then wrap them with moss (or example, with kladofora or Javanese) using transparent thread or fishing line.

To create a green carpet in the composition it`s recommend to use eleoharis or liliopsis. And now the most interesting – is the formation of the arrangement. At this stage it is possible to fantasize as you want. To your Wabi-Kusa looked even more interesting, we recommend you to use a small decorative stones and driftwood.
