Bobrovytsia in brief
Remains of an Old Rus hillfort of the 11th–13th centuries in the town centre show how old Bobrovytsia is. Under a privilege of 10 July 1597, Ivan Kolovytskyi founded a town called Mykhailiv here, and in 1602 it was re-founded as Bobrovytsia and granted to Mykhailo Ratomskyi, the starosta of Oster. On 26 March 1627, at the initiative of starosta Jeremiasz Zaleski, it received a privilege for a weekly market and two annual fairs. From 1654 Bobrovytsia was a company town of the Kyiv Cossack regiment; Taras Shevchenko visited in 1846, and a railway station opened nearby in 1868. It has been a town since 1958.
Names linked to Bobrovytsia
Locals are proud of weightlifter Viktoriia Rudenok (born 1978), a European champion who competed at the Sydney Olympics. Film director and writer Volodymyr Luhovskyi (1929–2005) grew up here. The town is also linked to lawyer and patron Petro Katerynych, founder of the Bobrovytsia sugar factory and a member of the Taras Shevchenko Society in St Petersburg.
Bobrovytsia today
The town lies on the Bystrytsia River, and its name is linked to old beaver trapping on local rivers. Burial mounds of the 2nd–1st millennia BC and the Old Rus hillfort recall its deep past, while the local history museum, the town park and the Holodomor memorial sign mark more recent history. Sugar has long shaped the town: Kochubei built the first factory in 1807, and Katerynych's plant opened in 1900; an agricultural college traces its roots to a school of 1891. Our courier will bring flowers to any part of Bobrovytsia.
Reasons for a Bouquet
A bouquet for a birthday, an anniversary or just because can be ordered for a specific date and time. March 8 and February 14 are the busiest days for flowers, so it is best to order early. Flowers for teachers on September 1 are a long tradition, and in late May and June bouquets go to graduations.
