Koncha-Zaspa in brief

The name Koncha-Zaspa has been used since the early 20th century, joining the Koncha tract (known from 1799) and the Zaspa farmstead (from 1800): in local dialect “zaspa” is a silted lake or river arm and “koncha” its end. The area is mentioned as Koncha or Hlushets in the 16th century, and in 1607 Zaspa lake belonged to Vydubychi Monastery. Mykola Sharleman directed the Koncha-Zaspa nature reserve in 1921–1932 before its status was lifted in the 1930s for government dachas. It has been within Kyiv since 1957.

Koncha-Zaspa today

Stretching along the right bank of the Dnipro at the southern edge of Holosiivskyi District and partly into Obukhiv District, Koncha-Zaspa takes in former Vita-Lytovska, Kozyn, Pliuty and the Mryhy farmstead. This green, forested zone hosts the Koncha-Zaspa, Zhovten and Prolisok sanatoriums and the Dynamo Kyiv training base at 45 Stolychne Highway, with cottage communities around Kozyn.
