Dunaivtsi through the centuries

Dunaivtsi is first mentioned in 1403 as a village of 72 households. In 1592, at the request of owner El?bieta Lanckoro?ska, King Sigismund III Vasa granted it town status, Magdeburg rights and the name Dunaihorod. Around 1782 the town passed to Jan Krasi?ski, who invited German colonists skilled in cloth-making; by the 1870s there were 54 factories. Dunaivtsi celebrated its 600th anniversary in 2003.

People of Dunaivtsi

Natives include composer and pianist W?adys?aw Zaremba (1833–1902), whose bust stands in the town, Polish composer Boles?aw Wojtowicz (1899–1980) and historian Fedir Shevchenko (1914–1996). Locals honour Colonel Valerii Padytel of the State Border Guard Service, a native of the town and Hero of Ukraine.

Dunaivtsi today

The town lies on the Ternava River, a left tributary of the Dniester, 68 km from Khmelnytskyi. Sights include the remains of the Krasi?ski manor, the Lutheran church, St. Michael's Church and the local history museum. Once known for its cloth factory, Dunaivtsi is now famous for its volleyball school and lies on the Camino Podolico pilgrimage route. We deliver bouquets anywhere in Dunaivtsi.
