Novyi Buh: from first records to today

Novyi Buh has changed names several times. In the second half of the 18th century the settlement was called Kutsa Balka, until 1810 Semenivka, and in 1810–1832 Novopavlivka; in 1810 the wealthy farmer Pavlo Triska settled nearby. In 1828 it became a military settlement of the Buh Uhlan Division, and in 1832 it was renamed Novyi Buh, home to the 3rd Buh Uhlan Regiment. It has been a town since 1860 and was a district centre from 1923 to 2020.

Notable people of Novyi Buh

Natives of the town include the Ukrainian writer, playwright and teacher Spyrydon Cherkasenko (1876–1940) and the anarcho-communist and revolutionary Stepan Dybets (1887–1937).

Novyi Buh today

The barracks of the 3rd Buh Uhlan Regiment (1818) recall the town's cavalry past. Other landmarks include the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, the main building of the girls' gymnasium (1890), the Novyi Buh History Museum and the Virchyna Balka memorial. Today it is an agricultural hub with a grain elevator and farms. We deliver bouquets to any address in Novyi Buh.
