What to know about Polianytsia

The first written mention of Polianytsia dates from 1820. In the early 20th century Prince Liechtenstein acquired the local estates and hunting grounds, and his funds paid for the Church of the Presentation of the Mother of God, built in 1912. The church was destroyed in 1942, and a new, larger one was built in 1989.

Polianytsia today

Polianytsia is a Carpathian mountain village at about 920 metres, next to the Bukovel ski resort. Graves of Austrian soldiers from the First World War survive near the new church. The village holds mountain-resort status, and in winter its population grows noticeably. A courier will bring flowers to any address in Polianytsia.
