A short history of Pylypovychi

Pylypovychi appears in the Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Poland of 1881: it then had 662 residents, and its parish dated from 1779. The wooden St Demetrius Church was built that year and renovated at parishioners' expense in 1878. By 1900 the village belonged to Hostomel volost of Kyiv county, with land around it owned by Sergei von Derviz. Its 234 households held 1,065 people, a parish school, a water mill, a windmill and four grocery shops, and villagers lived by farming and logging.

Pylypovychi today

The village lies on the Buchka River next to Borodianka, within the Borodianka community, near Makiichukove railway stop. The old wooden church is gone, but the Church of St Demetrius continues its tradition, and a memorial to fallen villagers stands in the cemetery.
