What to know about Radomyshl
Radomyshl's chronicle history begins in 1150, when it was known as Mychesk after the Myka River. In 1390 a charter of Kyiv prince Volodymyr Olherdovych mentions it as Mytsko on the Teteriv, and in the first half of the 16th century the town moved to the steep left bank of the Teteriv; the name Radomysl appears in 1569. In 1606 Archimandrite Yelysei Pletenetskyi of the Kyiv Pechersk Monastery built a paper mill here for the Lavra printing house, the first paper-making enterprise in what is now Ukraine. From 1746 the town was the residence of the Greek Catholic metropolitans.
Notable people of Radomyshl
The town's best-known native is footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko (born 1996), who played for Arsenal and the Ukrainian national team. Yiddish writer Dora Shulner (1890–1964) was also born here, and a monument honours paper-mill founder Yelysei Pletenetskyi (c. 1550–1624).
